Whatโ€™s Fueling AMR? A New Study Breaks It Down

๐Ÿš€ Exciting Research Alert! ๐Ÿš€

Weโ€™re thrilled to share the latest publication from our AMR and One Health group titled:
"Behavioral and Socio-Economic Determinants of Antimicrobial Resistance in Sub-Saharan Africa: A Systematic Review."

๐Ÿ‘ Huge congratulations to Thandizo Kapatsa, who led this groundbreaking research under the guidance of the #CREAMS team! Thandizo joined CREAMS in 2023 right after graduating with a BSc in Medical Microbiology from Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST). With a strong passion for antimicrobial resistance (AMR), she is determined to build her career in this critical field.

๐Ÿ”ฌ This latest study sheds light on the behavioral and socioeconomic factors fueling AMR in Sub-Saharan Africa. To effectively combat antibiotic resistance, we must first understand peopleโ€™s knowledge, behaviors, and antibiotic use practices. These insights are crucial for designing targeted interventions and policies that will help curb inappropriate antibiotic use and slow down the spread of AMR.

๐Ÿ™Œ A massive shoutout to the incredible research team behind this work:
Thandizo Kapatsa, Adriano Lubanga (M.D), Dr. Steward Mudenda (PhD, MPH, MSc, BPharm), Akim Bwanali, Dr. Gracian Harawa (MBBS), Pascal Chipewa, Tumaini Makole, Mapeesho Kamayani, and Thomas Nyirenda.

Stay tuned for more insights as we continue the fight against AMR! ๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿ’Š๐Ÿ’ก
